How to be a good host!

WALT: More practice - writing an explanation. Let's get ready for our test next week!

Being a good host is important to my family, but in my culture. We don’t really have parties. We have something called a prayer meeting. It is very important to be a good host in our meetings. So that’s why I’m gonna teach you how to be a host!

In our church, we have turns each week for prayer meetings. If we don’t come to church that day, they will have to text you. If we ever have prayer meetings, we always welcome them kindly. And they will always walk into a clean house. That is because I am forced to clean every time there are guests. We’ll talk on our couch until everyone is here.

While we are waiting for everyone else. We’ll offer them a drink, it might be a soda, or even coffee. It depends on what they want! When they come, they talk about the lord. But the children would just be in a room playing some games! When the meeting is finished, we go and eat food my Mum made!

It’s not only the adults who have to be a good host, I have to be a good host too! Well, when there’s children. I have to invite them to my room and offer them some games on my Nintendo! Then we would just play until it’s over. But sometimes, there's no children. So I just lay down and chat with my friends. Either online or in real life.

If they don’t know where the toilet is, I’ll show them. I have to give them the whole tour of my house if they haven’t seen it yet! I’ll show them the rooms that were not allowed to go in. And rooms we are allowed to go in! Like my room, my bathroom and my other bathroom.

Being a good host is really important because we have to be a great role model! You have to offer them food, show them rooms and be super kind to them!

Task description.
Miss Tele'a made us do another explanation writing, so we could get ready for our writing test next week! We had to write about being a good host! We have to teach the reader on how to be a good host. We could do that by offering food! Then I posted it on my blog for all of you to see!

Goals to improve my physical well-being

WALT: Identify ways to improve our physical well-being.

These are my goals for next week!

DO/MOVEMENT:

GOALS
For this topic, I could do athletics.
It doesn't only make me stronger,
but it makes me try new things!

Another idea for this topic is to dance!
If I dance it will be very tiring since
I would do a lot of actions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Eat/Drink:

GOALS
I wish I could eat more green vegetables so I'm healthy.
But I can't, I mean some vegetables are nice
but I only like 3 vegetables

Another goal is to drink more water that isn't cold.
Because I found out that cold water makes you lose weight.
But I'm already very skinny so I shouldn't drink much.

Hygiene:

GOALS
My goal is to shower everyday. I mean I do shower everyday
but one day I might stop doing it because I'm lazy.

That's all!

Task description.
Ms. Tapuke made us write goals to stay physically well. I had to work very hard because I am very indecisive with things. Then I posted it on my blog!

10 things me and my family and friends do to stay physically well

Hello, my name is Simon, I am gonna give you 10 things I do to stay healthy. Please don't judge me after you read my amazing 10 facts to stay healthy!

NUMBER 1

The first thing I do is that I play games so I can exercise my fingers. It's the best thing to do to exercise your fingers because you could have fun while your exercising!

NUMBER 2

The next thing I do to stay healthy is to go to school! In Point England, we have something called Kiwi sports and PE. I love it even though it made my foot hurt when I run now! But at least I get to exercise my short lushes legs!

NUMBER 3

I also exercise my arms by doing my DLO/Animation. It's such a workout, but at least it's really fun because you get to draw and exercise at the same time! And that's how I exercise my arms!

NUMBER 4

I exercise my legs and arms by going to the grocery store! Because I always push the trolley and I also have to walk while I'm doing that. Shopping is one of the best things to do to stay fit. (If you don't exercise like me)

NUMBER 5

I stay healthy by eating the fruits I love! Like mango, watermelon, even strawberries! I love those fruits, but I absolutely hate pears and apples! I'm like the only one who dislikes them!

NUMBER 6

I also stay healthy by drinking lots of milk and water. I love milk but I really don't like it when it's warm. I think it's the same for everyone else. It's the same of water, I don't really like it warm, but I like it cold!

NUMBER 7

I also stay fit by doing the dishes (sometimes). It always help my arms gain muscles by carrying heavy plates. It also makes my arms stronger because I always have to rub the plate with a sponge.

NUMBER 8

I always hide my lollies and replace it with the gross ones so I don't eat it and gain tons of fat in my body. And it's really unhealthy for me and my teeth.

NUMBER 9

I also train my brain, when I go to school, I always have to read a book. It will help my brain get stronger and smarter which is amazing! That's why books are so important to the world!

NUMBER 10 (THE LAST ONE)

The best thing to do is to sleep, if you don't have enough sleep and you have to go just sleep in the car! Sleep is really important especially when you have a test!

Well, thank you for reading the whole thing! I hope you learn't something about me!

Safety First

WALT: Refresher on writing an explanation. Let's get ready for our test next week!

Image result for rules photo

You should listen to your house rules, because if you don’t listen, you might get injured. So basically you just have to listen to your rules. Actually you should listen to any rules you see, it could be about anything. And if you get injured, you're gonna make your parents think it’s their fault. So please listen!

First,I’ll start off with the road. You have to be careful while you're on the road. It’s not just the person who's walking across. It’s the driver who has to be careful too.
The driver has to read signs and look out for traffic lights. There may be some people who’s walking across.
When you walk down the road, you have to be very careful. You have to look left and right and if there's no cars coming then you can go. But if there’s a traffic light, and you press the button, you still have to look out for cars.
There may be people who don’t listen to the traffic lights and they might run you over.

Now I’m gonna talk about using objects. Not all objects can hurt you, but some can. And I’ll be talking about them.
For example, a knife. You have to be very careful while you're cutting something, even if you're a professional chef. Professional chefs can still cut themselves. Even Gordon Ramsay can, and he’s amazing at cooking! You also have to be careful with using glass cups. Because you might accidentally drop it and the glass will shatter on you. Which is very dangerous. It’s not the only two objects you have to be aware of. You have to be aware of hammers, saws and even more!

You also have to be careful of the pools. I’ll tell you a true story that my teacher told me. She told us when she was like 15, she had this friend. They were going to the pools but her friend didn’t listen to the rules and dived in a shallow pool. She didn’t read the rules because she was excited because it was her first time going there. Then she hit her head and now she’s paralysed permanently.
That’s one of the reasons why you have to be careful in the pools. But there are more reasons why you have to be careful. First of all, you can’t run! You might slip and hit your head. And you actually might get paralysed. Even if you're in a hurry, you still can’t run. It’s that dangerous!
You also have to be careful when you swim. If you can’t swim like me, you have to be really careful. Because you might drown! But if you do know how to swim, I think you would be okay! But still be careful.

You also have to be very careful when you're on a trampoline. You have to be cautious on the rules. For example, there could be a rule like “Only one person at a time”. It depends on the trampoline. Or you have to be careful while you are jumping. Because when you drop down you might hit the edges of the trampolines.
You also have to be very careful of jumping too high because you actually might jump so high that you actually don’t drop in the trampoline, you drop on the grass. I’m not sure, but I'm still cautious of them.

Please listen to my writing because you have to be aware of hurting yourself and it will help you be safe. It will help you not be afraid to do things when you know the rules, and it will help you try things since you know that you're gonna be safe!

Task description.
Mrs. Tele'a made us a task. We had to write about rules. We had to use the formula called TIIC. It means, Title, Introduction, Information and Conclusion. Then I posted it on my blog for the world to see!

My Heroic Siblings

Hi, my name is Simon. My Mom and Dad has raised 4 children. I was the last one to be born. I have 3 amazing siblings that helps me in tough situations, including me being hungry so they buy me food! I'm just kidding, but they sometimes do that. I was only supposed to do one sibling but I decided to do all them since I can't choose!

They help me in situations like when I get in trouble. They'll have a talk with me and tell me what to say to my parents. They also buy me lots of gifts which I'm really grateful about!

My sister that's a nurse sometimes takes care of me when I'm sick when she doesn't have work! She also tells me what medicines/cream I should use if I have something on my skin or I just have a fever.

And my older sister, which now is living in Australia is living with her husband. She helped my whole family by making money by owning a shop, and help sell foods in events. She always helps my mother so I don't have to cook and burn myself.

And lastly, my brother. He is the one who helps me with homework and buys me pies at the dairy when its the holidays. And he's the one to talks to my parents when I get in trouble. And sometimes, when he drives me home, he might buy me McDonald's even though he's having a hard time with money!

And that's why I call them my HEROIC SIBLINGS!

Task description.
The Team 5 teachers gave us homework to do. For our inquiry, we had to write a blog post about a Heroic Sibling. We had to write why they're your heroic sibling. Then we had to read it to double check if it makes sense!

My Letter to Mrs Tele'a

Dear Mrs Tele’a,

Paragraph 1:
My name is Simon, I was born in New Zealand, but my family is from the Philippines. I am the only child in my family who was born in New Zealand. My Mom and Dad raised 4 children, I am the youngest child out of my siblings. I’m 10 years old, And I’m turning 11 on February.

Paragraph 2:
I love playing games! It is a hobby of mine. The first game I’ve ever played was roblox. I play it a bit, because it got a little boring, that’s why I play with my friend, Bradley! We found a game on roblox called Piggy. It’s a horror game and it's super fun! My favourite food is probably Sushi! Sushi is a food that involves something called rice. (Fun Fact: Rice is actually a traditional food for Indonesians.)  My favourite fast food place is definitely McDonalds, I swear, I’ll love them till I die!

Paragraph 3:
At school I like playing with my friends when it’s morning tea and lunchtime! It’s probably my most favourite thing to do at school. But I dislike PE, I’ve only done it once right now and I absolutely HATE it! I mean, I know it’s important to exercise but it’s so long and it just kills my digestive system and makes me wanna throw up. I’m not sure why it’s always like that? I also like doing writing! I love showing my interesting stories to my readers! My goal for 2020 is to get over my fears. Like heights and drowning! Also to get 1st in academic! I’m gonna work very hard for that!

Paragraph 4:

I like it when anyone comments on my blog, but if it’s like an incredibly long one. I really wouldn’t know what to say. I would usually just ignore it, but if it's a teacher I probably would answer. But Mrs Tele’a doesn’t really have to support me everyday, I’m pretty sure there's way more people in my literacy class that need help! Also, a good teacher would just help there students if they need it!

Paragraph 5:
I actually still don’t know how to swim. I have a fear of drowning and probably because I’m super short and I can’t really reach the floor. If I  get over the fear of drowning, I would probably be able to swim if I did get over it! Luckily I have 2 more years on learning how to swim! I think that’s it!
