Term 1 Reflection 2021

Today is our final day of term 1. This term was very stressful and fun because of numerous reasons. I had a lot of great opportunities this term like meeting our one and only Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. I will be writing about my most greatest opportunity, most stressful day and our the most enjoyable day.

The first great opportunity I was able to have was to meet our one and only Prime Minister. It is such a privilege to be able to even be near her! Honestly it was quiet nerve wracking at first but actually talking to her was super amazing! She was so kind and sweet and I honestly just LOVE her!

The most stressful day I've had was actually pretty recent. It was actually last week. It was very stressful because we had to finish of our first play in only two days. It was even worse because a lot of the Prefects and Rangatahi were mucking around... but thankfully we were able to pull it off!

And for the most fun day... it's definitely gonna be this day because their is something very special happening. It's a very private thing so unfortunately I cannot tell anyone but it's something including a cake and my teachers... Mrs. Stone.

This is my term one reflections with all my highlights!

My Visual Mihi

Today, I finished of my Visual Mihi. My Visual Mihi contains 4 images that represent people/things that I personally love!

The first image I decided to do that I love very much was my culture. My culture is a very important thing in my life, it represents me and my family. I decided to draw the Filipino flag and the NZ flag, as my family is Filipino and I was born and raised in NZ.

My second image that I drew was my dog named Cooper. His breed is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, as you know from my about me. He's very important to me as he is one of my only pets that lived for more then a year and didn't get lost.

The third image I created was the word family. My family is a huge part of what I am. I am very grateful to have such a great family that love me very much. I cherish them so much that they are my treasure.

Lastly, and finally... my last image was about writing because writing is my favourite subject. I can express my creative and unique ideas in writing. I have a question though..? What is your favourite subject

Please leave a positive comment on my blog.

Final Step of the Design Process

Today for extension, we were working on the final step of the design process for our project, called the 'Streets for everyone project.' This picture below shows all our creative ideas and our amazing join the dots images. Sadly, the picture only contains one of ideas since we finished the other two TODAY.

I'm very glad we did this project because it made me more open minded and more creative. Usually I have plain and old ideas but this project made me open up.

If you'd like to see more of our images please look in the blogpost "Streets for everyone project".

Thinking Critically

Today, we learnt how to dig deeper and find out if the rumours are true. We learnt how to think critically in some situations. We had to find out ways to debunk some fakes news, you can do a reverse image search, check if it has proper domains and more!

If you wants to learn more ways to debunk some news, check out my presentation!

He aha te taima?

Today for Te reo class, we learnt about times once again! Instead we focusing on minutes instead of hours. Well, we mostly focused on learning past and to. After answering the questions on the two slides, we had to create a poster. I worked on this poster with my friend Norah.
I think it turned out amazing! Check out her blog to check what she did.

Keep it cool!

Today we did an experiment which taught us many different things we have to pay attention to. We had to find out ways to somehow make the experiment fair and also find out our flaws after the experiment.

Today for our experiment, we were finding out the best material to keep ice cool. It had to guess which material would work better, our options were foil, bubble wrap, polystyrene cups and our 'control' cup was plastic.

Find out which material was better by looking at my slides!

Streets For Everyone Project

On the 24th of March, the year seven and eight extension group were able to walk around Glen Innes streets around point england. I was in a group with Norah - Jade and Oalii. We were focusing on different ways to play join the dot and somehow interpret into the streets.

We all had a lot of fun walking around and finding very specific places to put games & more.

This project made us open our minds and be creative by  finding ways to make walking home or just randomly walking fun. We had to figure out ideas to make join the dots very unique and fun. Look in our presentation for our ideas!

If you don't understand our ideas, we first thought of doing coloured dots instead of plain old black dots. We also thought of doing street names instead of numbers. Instead of it being, 1, 2, 3, etc... it's actually S, i , m, o, n. We thought our ideas were super creative and fun and we were all proud of it!

I also forgot to mention that we met Toby and Bhav. They're the people who started this fun and amazing project and also helped us on the way. They were a really huge help and I hope we get to meet them again. I hope we get to complete this huge project to make walking fun, as walking is pretty boring... especially by yourself.

This term I learnt how to be more creative and also learnt how to think about others, so elderly people, or maybe younger people can have fun!
