(SLJ) The Water Project

Task description.
Today I did a presentation about this amazing community called the Water Project.  I had to watch this little clip about the Water Project. Then I had to share what I've learnt from the clip. It was very challenging! But luckily I still did it! Then I posted it on my blog!

  1. Kia ora Simon,

Nice to meet you. Well done on starting your summer learning journey! I am happy that you are coming on this journey with me. This is my second year being a blogger commenter and I have just completed my degree to become a teacher. You can check out my blog page to see some pictures of me and the team! What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

Just a friendly reminder that the Summer Learning Journey programme has already started, therefore you can now stop with your teaser week blogs and go straight into week 1. You will be able to get points for week 1 onwards, so you can be in to win some awesome prizes!

Here is the link to week 1 https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/weekly-activities/2019-week-1-y3-5

Really looking forward to reading more blog posts of yours

  2. Good Evening Simon,

I am Samuel, a Year 7 student attending Sacred Heart College. I am part of a trial period in which they are trying out students to be blog commenters, which means it is my first experience with this sort of position. However, I did complete the Summer Learning Journey as a student in previous years.

I like the slide you have put together showcasing the amazing work the the Water Project is doing that one could see as a basic necessity. Most of us have access to clean water in New Zealand, and we can sometimes take it for granted. it seems crazy to me that we would want to spend money on sweet drinks when there are people who struggle to get the tiniest drop of clean water. It is surreal. This is a very good blog post, everything is on point. Well done, Simon.

    1. Kia ora Samuel,

It is great to see that you are continuing the Summer Learning Journey on into your intermediate years- even if it’s becoming a student commenter. Are you enjoying it? It must feel different being on the other side of this programme and helping our youth.

I agree with you Samuel. We do take for granted how lucky we are to be able to have consistent access to fresh water. Although we are aware of how some people live with limited access to these necessities, often it’s not until we see it first-hand that we really gain a genuine understanding.

Thanks for bringing this up and helping our tamariki. Keep up the awesome work :)
