In extension, we've been learn many things about the Earth and its oceans. The extension group learnt three main things, the first thing we'll be talking about is about sustainability.
I realized that I knew what 'sustainability' was but didn't know a deeper meaning of it. The extension group found out that it was a thing that we do individually. What I mean by this is balancing our usage of natural resources to our needs.
Well we don't have to completely remove these from our lives, but we need to make an attempt to reduce all of the natural resources we can and to balance it out with our needs. It not only is essential to our environments, but the future generations the earth holds.
BIODIVERYSITY
Biodiversity is the other thing the extension group have learnt about. We learnt that BIODIVERSITY describes the variety of life in earth. Biodiversity refers to every living thing on earth, which can include plants, bacteria, animals, etc.
Why is BIODIVERSITY important to us? Well biodiversity provides us with many things, they supply oxygen, they clean the air and water, and lots more! If you haven't realized it yet, its sort of a gift from the gods. It protects us, keeps us safe, fight diseases, etc. If we didn't have biodiversity, we'd all be dead. That's why biodiversity is very important towards animals, plants, and more!

Lastly, MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES.
Ms. West has provided us with information that'll definitely help towards the future. Which is making the right choices. Making the right choices means to be aware of the choices and make sure to choose which one is more suitable to your liking.
We can balance our lives by making the right choices. "How does it benefit us?", well it can not only help you, but it can also help the earth. For example, choosing between water and soft drinks. Instead it goes into a deeper meaning. We have to think about the material, where it comes from, how will it benefit us? Another example is shampoo soap bars that are ecofriendly and shampoo bottles. We have to think deeper, think about where it comes from. The shampoo bottles probably comes from a factory, if they create more of these, it'll pollute the air, whilst maybe the soap bars are made in a safe environment, using packaging materials that reduce our usage of plastic.
This is what I mean by making the right choices, too think more about the things were benefiting of it.
Those are the 3 main things we've learnt in extension, but guess what? We've also been learning about a critically endangered species thats around New Zealand! Check out my research explaining how we can help them survive and some facts about them!
