Task description.
Today for Summer Learning Journey we had to learn, create and share what a quality blog comment is. Luckily I already knew how to create a quality blog comment. To share my blogcomment I had to create a presentation with a description explaining how I showed positivity, thoughfulness and helpfulness.

My Extension Reflection

This year I was privileged to be in the year 7 & 8 extension group for 2020. This is my third year of being in extension which is such an honour! My highlights on being in extension is going to KPMG and creating some christmas stuff.

I absolutely loved the KMPG trip so I’m looking forward to going there next year.

Another highlight of mine is just hanging out with my extension friends. They’ve been nothing but nice to me this year..  which I’m really grateful for!

In my Kiwiana art I had to incorporate stuff from culture, e.g patterns, flags , etc. But I also had to incorporate things that I love. I added a camping site because I love camping with friends and family!
For my background I created some NZ landscape to represent the New Zealand culture.

My Protest Stickman

 


For my statue I chose a fire style. It represents the fire creating smoke like the factories. Well sort of… I just created the idea right now on the spot. I thought of the smoke because my protest sign was “Ban Factories”.



That’s why I chose fire as my style, because of my protest sign!

KPMG Trip - Reflection

 Last week on friday, the extension class and a few students went to KPMG.  KPMG created us a fun programme for us to do. The programme was based on arts and craft. 

When we arrived at KPMG ( Located in the city of Auckland. ) we first had to sign our name. I’m pretty sure it was because we were guests.

After that they introduced themselves. I’m not gonna say all their names but I’ll tell you my favourite staff member there! My favourite “staff” member was a person named Nina…  which was funny since my friend Nina was coming along the trip.

Nina was such a kind and genuine person that she helped me with my art project that came out amazing! She probably helped me because 2 people from KPMG ruined my artwork.. although A+ for trying! Me and Nina created a Christmas Tree and decorated it with paint, stickers, and some of these ornaments. It turned out so cool that I was willing to give it to Nina as a thank you gift, although she wanted me to give it to my sister.. which is kind of her!

Step It Up

 


Task description.
Today I finished of my second task. I learnt about something called the Elements of Art, I was mainly focusing on "colour" but I also found out that there's also space in the art. I decided to colour in a famous painting called "The Watermelons" which was created by Diego Rivera.Instead of the watermelons being normal, I decided to add fun and pop like colours.
When I was creating the art I found out there were space in the painting. The table and the watermelons are in the front and the middleground were the green pillows and the background was the wall.

Task description.
Today I'm doing a "starter" challenge for SLJ - Summer Learning Journey. For this task I had to create my own version of someone else's art. On the website I saw this painting and I found it very interesting, so I decided to make my own version of it using emotions.After I finished doing this art, I went to research about this art to find out the creator of the master piece and how old it was.  After I finished my research, I made a copy of the template they created. What I had to do was put images, the title and the art creator and then explain why I chose a different colour then the original art. Real Life or Not?

Task description.
Today I finished of a task for reading today, we learnt to have lots of hope in ourselves and to never give up. My literacy class got to choose between 3 books. I chose one about a female pilot from the pacific who had lots of hope in herself. On the second slide we had to answer if you could become a pilot, I obviously chose 'yes'  because anything can happen if you have lots of hope, courage and if you work hard. Then on the last slide I had to explain if I want to become one.
After that I then change the ending at the end, for example to can make the ending opposite.

Today for maths we did some equations using bedmas. Most of us were confused with a few questions, including myself. Then on the last slide I had to create a quiz for my blog viewers!

Designing Shoes


Task description.
Today, I finished of some sort of "bonus" task. For this task I had to answer the questions on the first slide and then on the last slide I had to create my own shoe. We could put our own style on it. For example you can make your shoe brown.
Then I had to explain the parts I changed and the base colour.

My Fascinating Super Hero Life

My name is DeafMouth, well at least that’s what they call me. I’m personally not a fan of the name but the people decided it. My ability is “counter”, it’s a bit confusing but you’ll know what I do later on. But if I get into HEAPS of trouble, I’ll scream like how a tumultuous carnival sounds like. Trust me it’s loud, but that’s only if I’m in an extreme situation.

But you mustn’t tell a soul! And you have to promise that or I’ll SCREAM in your ears.. just joking!


I usually sneak out of my classroom if anyone needs help, I quickly go to the bathroom and get out of my uniform like it dissolves from my body. My hair turns to my bed hair like I’m crazy, like it’s evolving from normal to weird.

But sadly, my identity must be kept a secret because of this EXTREMELY evil teacher in room 3.


Mrs. Tele’a, also known as “The TELLER”. She’s known as the evil villain in every single movie. She could be the zombie, or even worse the Zombie Queen!

Everyone is scared of her, well everyone except for me. I have the ability to counter everything she tells me, which is AMAZING! She always reveals her powers when she’s growling someone for the most simple reason in the whole entire UNIVERSE!

She always tells people off, that's why she’s known as “The TELLER”. Such an evil and FRIGHTENING name.  I remember when we were battling, she wanted me to join Villains Incorporated, but I refuse because all they do is kill innocent people.


But sadly, she’s not my exact enemy. My real enemy is ‘Ear Girl’. It’s such a strange name in my opinion. It’s stranger than mine! She even named herself that, she might as well be ear wax girl since she uses earwax to defend herself.

And you know what's worse than her personality. I used to be BESTFRIENDS with her! I know it’s so embarrassing! And you know what’s even worse than that?! Whenever we were friends she would always secretly put earwax in my hair and it would always get stuck in my hair, it was that sticky! Imagine if it was just like slime but instead it’s earwax version. Well now let’s talk about what she does. She steals from every bank in Auckland, she’d always use her powers (earwax) for advantage. She’d chuck HEAPS of earwax in every witness's eyes and make their mouth shut like someone used superglue on their mouth. It took awhile for it to dissolve from your mouth, and trust me I know why! But you don’t have permission to ask me what happened!



My boss from HeroIndustry, a group I joined after VilliansIncorporated invited me. Wait I forgot..  you don’t even know HOW I joined it?? Well let me tell you right now!

Well, as you know ‘The TELLER’ invited me to VilliansIncorporated, I of course declined. They were cruel, wicked like a witch and warty. I forgot to tell you, the Villains look just like a witch. Pointy nose, warty and they have a BLACK CAT plush.

After I declined, a few days after I saw an innocent person getting attacked by ‘The TELLER’, “she must have taken her anger at that person” I thought. I ran inside the class room and  I came to the rescue. I countered the things she told him and I screamed like a tumultuous carnival, then she froze like she was a robot having an engine made by lackadaisical scientists. 

I grabbed the superhero’s hand and ran away. ‘The TELLER’ came for us and with an evil and unholy face. When I looked back I thought she needed a face mask so I took one from my bag of goods and threw it at her face.

Luckily that face mask made her lose us and I can imagine her wicked face being so upset. I mean, I was being nice to her anyway, I gave her a face mask and she really needed it. So she should be thanking me.

I found out that the person I saved was the CEO of HeroIndustry, I was very intrigued about him after he said that. I kept asking him questions about what it's like being the CEO of a very important company and I also asked him why he’s so weak, I’m just joking!

Since I saved him he gave all the information I could ever need, I found out his enemy was ‘The TELLER’. I was about to laugh because she was so weak and they still can’t beat her?!

He first told me his name, which was Silly Willy and then after he told me his ability was ‘Mindless’, which is basically a fancy way of saying ‘Silly’. 

No wonder why he can’t even beat that weak human? Wait should I even say human?? I might as well say alien. TELLER the alien.. that made me chuckle.

He wanted me to join the HeroIndustry, I first asked if I would get money and he agreed to the question so of course I wanted to join!

So that’s how I joined HeroIndustry. 


Whoops, I might have gotten too attached to how I joined HeroIndustry, I just love it that much. They’re kind, caring and they can show the Point England Way, just like me!

Now let me tell you what my boss said, he said that a villain named ‘Ear Girl’ robbed another bank. He wanted me to deal with Ear Girl which was perfect! I can finally get revenge on what she did to me 3 years ago…. right you don’t know what she did, well let me tell you right now. As you know she WAS my best friend, until a few years later…. she betrayed me!

She randomly attacked me while we were both in the bathroom, she injured me terribly… luckily I was able to escape the tragic event that happened using my ‘counter’ attacks.

After a few months of healing I tried to confront her, then she did the same thing but in front of everyone. When she attacked me, she looked back behind her. 

She realised that everyone was watching her, then she randomly disappeared. It’s like she dissolved in thin air. Then I randomly gained consciousness, well that’s what people told me at least. Then I woke up in the hospital. I had to take a shower first thing I woke up because she launched heaps of earwax in my hair. It was an extremely painful shower.


It took several months to heal the damage she caused and after that I wanted my revenge… and I wanted a good revenge…



Now that all that dramatic past is done, now it’s time to talk about my mission. To save the bank, but in my opinion the mission should be called “Getting Revenge on the Ear Girl”.

I went to the bank located in Auckland, in Pakuranga.

I glided through Point England to Pakuranga as fast I could. In my opinion I was faster than a nanny with their walking stick.

Yeah I know I was ULTRA fast. Let’s stop talking about how fast I am and now let’s talk about the mission. I walked into the bank and saw my one and only enemy. Ear Girl… she acted like she didn’t know I was in the bank until she tried shooting earwax in my eyes but I dodged that quickly like I was a ninja. Then I used annoying counter attacks to break her ears.. and when she heard those attacks she looked like she was having a mental breakdown while blocking her ears.

She then countered back at me by chucking earwax in my mouth. She actually hit my mouth and my mouth was shut. Luckily I had an idea if this ever happened to me.

I first wait 5 minutes while dodging all her attacks. After 5 minutes all the moisture should be gone. It should be dry like the Sahara Desert.  Then I used my special attack, the tumultuous scream. Then the earwax started shattering like it’s glass and it fell into my mouth. Then I spit the earwax out. My eyes turned red after having an eye to eye with Ear Girl.

Ear Girl was clearly frightened and tried to escape, but before she escaped I used my ultra secret powerful attack. The tumultuous scream x9… it would have been 10 but I had to use one of them on the sticky, icky and stinky earwax that made my mouth shut. I broke Ear Girl’s ears after I used my powerful attack on her and she gained consciousness. She woke up with me staring at her. Then I realised that her eye colour was different then before I fought her.

She then say’s “Simon is that you? Why am I here and what happened to me”.

I told her everything that happened and she said that she doesn’t remember anything that she did to me.


At Least I got my “revenge” but now I have to figure out what happened to her..


After 1 whole year of thinking about that strange event, I then realized that there was another villain which can use multiple abilities. His name was Ruthless, I researched about this Ruthless guy and looked for hints, clues…  I practically needed ANYTHING.

After several days of searching, I found a photo of him unmasked… oh no..

Today for cooking, we made something called a "lap-lap". We created the lap-lap with mince and curry powder. I found the lap-lap nice, but it would of tasted better if we had some condiments, bread and some lettuce. Thank you Mrs. Heka for the delicious meal!

Today for reading were having another read off. Last time I got 5 so I'm gonna aim to have at least 6 blog posts. This article was about very dangerous beaches in Auckland. I found out they're dangerous because of animal poo, that animal poo is very damaging to us.

Understanding Probabilities

Today for maths we were focusing on probabilities of things happening again! This time we are using probability scale and some grids. We had to try and understand the probability for each things. E.g - The day today is Wednesday and tomorrow will be Friday. That will be a 0% chance because it's impossible.

The Friendly Carnival - Writing

 Today, 16th of October 2022 I decided to distract myself from working by having fun at this carnival. I was extremely excited to go there, although I didn’t have any friends to go with because all my friends, I mean my ONLY friend is a very industrious person.

I go outside, get into my car, wear my seatbelt and I start to drive to the carnival. 

As I get out of the car I can already hear tumultuous sounds of games, roller coasters and people. As I walk in I see lots of fun and vibrant colours which brings joy to my eyes.

I feel like I’m gonna explode with excitement! 


I look around like some sort of spy and I see this GIGANTIC rollercoaster! It looks like it’s a very popular roller coaster considering the amount of people in the line.

I got on the line and I waited. I wanted to burst my bubbles as I was waiting for my turn. I’m a extremely impatient person. After an hour of waiting in the line, it was finally my turn! 

My joy and excitement came back until I realised that I wasn’t tall enough! I didn’t even realise there was a sign telling me that I was only able to go on the ride if I was tall enough. Although I needed supervision to go on even though I was already an adult!

I tried negotiating a deal with the man but he didn’t even try to listen to my words, I even tried negotiating him with MONEY! I dreadfully walked back, but then he called me back. I have no clue why he called me back, maybe he wanted the money? But turns out a VERY tall person, way out of my range wanted to supervise me. 


I agree in excitement and my joy is back again! I asked him if he wanted some money, but she disagreed. Which was very weird, I mean I would NEVER not accept free money. I mean who wouldn’t? Maybe he was wealthy I thought. I shrugged my shoulders and I jumped on the roller coaster ready to get on! In a few seconds he was about to start the roller coaster. I was so nervous that there weren't even butterflies in my stomach, there were WASPS in my stomach. He started in and I SCREAM in joy. I may have made a tumultuous sound but I didn’t care. I can hear the tall women next to me screaming even more than me! I closed my eyes and elevated my arms. After 5 seconds, the roller coaster was done. I was so happy I got to experience the ride and I thank the tall women with all my heart once we got off.

She asked for my number because she wanted to be friends with me.

I was very surprised that she wanted to be friends with me, I just thought she wanted my money! I gave her my number and we decided to do the games together! The game’s were immeasurably more fun with friends!


I guess everything is fun with friends. Today was a fun day, I made a new friend, experienced the most SUPREME rollercoaster ever. But now I have to go back and do my work. I’m looking forward to hanging with friends again!

Today my literacy class were writing a narrative based of some photos. We were learning how to incorporate the 5 sights into our writing, e.g - I heard lots of terrifying sounds as I walk in the building.
I'm not sure where to find the photo but the photo was like some sort of arcade or carnival area. 
I incorporated a sad story and a fun and funny story all together! Well I tried.

What's in the Bag?


Task description.
This week, my maths class was learning about probabilities. For this task we have to make predictions. For example if I put 4 brown cubes and 2 black cubes in a bag, the person who has my bag has to predict how many cubes of each colour. After 4 rounds I knew the amount of each cubes by how much black cubes I got then blue. When we looked in the bag we were full in excitement because we got it right!
Then we have to answer our findings in the slide show and show our results in fractions!

Today for cooking we made pizza again! But instead our pizza base is made from scratch! Our wonderful teacher, Mrs. Heka made the dough for us because we wouldn't have enough time.

Today, Mrs. Tele'a challenged us! She wrote down some words and we had to figure out which words were nouns. For example, Simon. If my name was there it would be a noun! I think I managed to create a better mouse then Mrs. Tele'a and I also think I did a great job! What do you guys think?

Probabilities - Labour Weekend


Task description.
Today for maths we were focusing on probabilities on things. On our first question we had to figure out the percentage of Rae Jae picking one of the things below, since there were 4 papers he had a 25% chance of choosing it. Then me and my group created a chart with things to do. Then we had some sort of raffle draw and we each chose 2 papers. Most of us got M.A.S.P and only 1 of us got S.P and V.B.

Reducing Plastic

 Today, I’ll be teaching you ways to reduce the amount of plastic you use! I recommend using my strategies I found so we can save the environment and stop taking advantage of the Earth. Stay tuned!

One way to reduce plastic is by using a hierarchy called the 5 R’S. The 5 R’s is a hierarchy explaining how to reduce the amount of plastic going into the environment. Let me tell you what all the 5 R’S means. The first R is REFUSE, to learn how to refuse you can’t buy products with very unnecessary packaging. For example, those products might be Pringles, we should stop buying Pringles until they change their packaging because turns out their packaging is the WORST to recycle, so I recommend not buying it until they finish with their new package! Even if pringles are delicious, our Earth is definitely more important than pringles! The next R is Reduce, too reduce you need to stop using things that can’t be recycled. And you also have to try and stop using single-used plastic. I believe plastic bags can’t be recycled unless you just keep them. If you reduce there will be a LOT less plastic in the landfill! 


The third R is Reuse, for example, like I said earlier. You could reuse your plastic bags if you have one! Instead of recycling it or throwing it in the bin, keep it! Another example is reusing water bottles! If you bought one, you could just keep it and just refill it at your house! Doing this will prevent even more rubbish going to the landfill! Now REPURPOSE, if any of the last steps don’t work, you should definitely try repurposing it. For example, using cardboard for storage, newspaper for maybe paper mache! And finally the last one, which is recycle. If NONE of the steps work, the best thing you can try to do in recycle. Recycling is probably the worst one out of all of them, but it’s better than putting it in the landfill. I’m guessing you know what to recycle, but if you don’t let me tell you! You can recycle things like soft plastic, all types of bottles like coke and more! 

Now another important thing is to cook. Instead of buying HEAPS of fast food, try cooking fresh and healthy meals! Like currently I’m trying to learn how to cook so in the future I’ll be able to reduce the amount of trash I use and to become a healthy person as well! It’s extremely important to cook fresh and healthy meals because it’s good for the environment and good for you! Personally I’m not a huge fan of vegetables, but I’m gonna try and get used to them and eat them for my future self! It’s better to cook instead of buying fast food everyday because first of all, it’s a waste of money, second of all it has heaps of trash in them and lastly it won’t be healthy for you. Yes, fast food tastes amazing, but I would recommend buying it like a few times a month to just treat yourself from eating all the healthy stuff you consume!

So if you do all these things you’ve learnt in this writing you’ll be able to become a healthy person, and a fantastic person for trying to reduce the amount of plastic you use. Even if you do these things and still use plastic, it won’t matter because at least you’re taking the time to save the environment!

But my facts were about the Niuean Alphabet as you read. And I was talking about macarons, vowels and consonants .

Cooking at Tech - Curry

 


Task description.
Today, for tech I went cooking again! Today, me and my buddies Kahurangi and Kitione made some sort of curry. Our curry includes all kinds of spices, tomatoes, spinach, onions and rice! We also had a choice to put yoghurt in it, but I decided not to!
I can't wait to cook again next week!

Elements Of Art - Lines

 


Task description.
Today, in the element of arts we are learning about lines! We learnt about different types of lines, like short lines, wavy lines or NARROW lines.
We also learnt that lines can show feelings, for example. Diagonal lines can look like angry eyebrows so that's why I did diagonal lines for angry!

Immersion Assembly - Highlights!

 This Monday, we had our very own immersion assembly! This is our last immersion assembly for the year and our new topic/theme is called “Art Alive”. I’ll be sharing with you my highlights from what I experienced during the assembly!

One of my highlights was watching the very funny movies our wonderful teachers created. I will be talking about my teacher's movie, team 5! Unfortunately, 2 of our teachers weren’t there. Luckily one of them are back, but if you’re reading this please give Mrs. Ilaoa a big prayer in her comments! Or at least wish her good luck during these very unfortunate events. So in team 5’s movie, Mrs. Va’afusuaga and Mrs. Moala were acting as visitors of the Museum. They were both walking up to different legends/paintings. My favourite painting was Mrs. Stone’s part. She was meant to be a chilli but instead looking more like some sort of sausage!

I forgot what artist it was but what I learnt from him is that he paints all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

But great job to our other teachings doing the acts!

Today, we wrote about our Immersion Assembly on Monday. We had to write in awesome words about our highlights during the Assembly! Of course I had way more highlights but this is the one we had to write about!

Edvard Munch - Art Alive!

 



Task description.

For this task I had to create a poster about Edvard Munch, which is an artist that shows expression in his writing. I talked about why he created his first painting (the sick child) , his most popular painting he created and his date of death and when he was born. Then I decided to make my poster look pretty by adding heaps of detail!

Ko wai O hoa?


Task description.
Today I finished of a Maori task. For this task, our question was "Ko wai o hoa", which means "Who are your friends". On slide 5 , 6 and 7, we had to write down the correct word, for example. There friends are Phoenix and Julia. So that means I have to do raua, since it's only 2 people. Then on the last slide I had to create a poster with a conversation between any amount of people using the words we learnt!

Interpreting Graphs!


Task description.
Today, me and my class were learning to interpret graphs to get ready for our last maths test of the year! We learnt how to interpret graphs by using a strategy named "TALK", which stands for - Title - Axis - Labels and Keys!

Plastic Fantastic!



Task description.

Today, me and my class were reading an article about environmental issues. And those issues are plastic! We learnt that plastic is damaging our environment and creating heaps of pollution!  They also damage animals and make them extinct! In this task we had to convert sentences with numbers in it and put it in a google doc. Then I bolded the number in the sentence to make it look fancy!

Pourquoi Tales

 
Why does the spider have 5 eyes?
Well a long long time ago, when spiders use to have only 1 eye.
One time the spider went to find food in the forest because he was starving! He couldn’t find food for an hour because his eye range was terrible! But then he found this very suspicious looking mushroom, he didn’t wanna eat it but he had to so he could survive. After he ate the mushroom he randomly fell asleep, which was very weird because he usually stays up all night! But then in the morning he woke up and felt weird for some reason, like he was pregnant! He went to a pond to drink some water and for some reason he found it really fast! He looked at the reflection of the pond and realised that he now has 5 eyes his reaction was unbelievable, he was extremely happy!
That’s how spider have 5 eyes.



2. Why do spider have jaws?
Well one time, in a land that doesn’t exist anymore. There was so much scrumptious bugs around the forest. The spider used to always eat funguses and berries but they got sick of it and wanted to try a bug.
So he decided to look for a delicious and fat one! Then he found a big juicy bug and caught it with his legs, but then realised he couldn’t kill it so he tried just eating and while he was gonna take a huge bite, the bug jumped away because they only had two legs! The spider was extremely sad because wasn’t able to eat it, but one day he wanted to go in the water to find some seaweed, when he went in the water to find some seaweed but then the spider went to far down, in the deep parts and then started to sink. Then he fainted but randomly woke up in the beach but the front of his prosoma felt very strange and went back to the water to look at his reflection and realised he had jaws to kill the bugs. He was extremely happy!
That’s how spiders have jaws.


3. Why does the spider have 8 legs? Well let me tell you, centuries ago the spiders use to have 2 legs, the spiders had heaps of trouble walking and they hated it, the bugs they eat would usually always run away because they’d always slowdown because they only had to legs. One time, he saw a bug on the tree so he climbed it without thinking about falling, and he went on the skinny thin branch but then lost balance because of the legs, he fell down into mud and something felt weird, it’s like he felt something coming out of the prosoma and the abdomen and when he got out of the mud he saw that he grew 6 legs! He was so happy because he can walk properly now.
That’s how the spiders have 8 legs.

Today me and my literacy class learnt what Pourquoi Tales are. I created 3 paragraphs of Pourquoi Tales about the spider. Like for example, how it's got it 8 legs. I had to use my mind to create a awesome/creative idea on how it's got 8 legs!

Kei te pehea te ahua o te rangi?

 


Task description.
Today, Mrs. Tipene taught us how to ask people what's the weather today in Maori. Then she told us how to answer/reply to those lessons. We first had to learn what the words are for each weather. After we learned that, we then have to answer questions the slides and then lastly we had to create a poster showing a conversation between 2 people.
