My Family

Task description.
Today I created a task based on Taha Whanau. Taha Whanau is about our relationship with people. We had to create a google drawing and create our whole family using this link. (I personally think that website should add more hairs) Then after we created our avatar we had to write down what they do for our family.

Measurement 2

Task description.
My maths class has been focusing on Measurements. Today we are learning to convert meters. On slide 5 we had to convert the Larger Units and make them smaller, but for Capacity!
And then it was the same on slide 6 and slide 7 but instead slide 6 was about the mass/weight and slide 7 was about the length. Then on slide 8 we were basically doing the same things. Converting Larger units to smaller units. And lastly on slide 9 and 8 we had to figure out which measurement was larger. E.g 1 m or 90 cm, 1 meter is larger because 1 meter is 100 cm.

The "Overall"

Task description.
For this task i had to create a piece of writing about that photo. I had to create writing using all the sentences. I tried my best because I didn't know what to write about. This task is basically the "overall" task. Or like a conclusion which is the ending!
In this writing I was a bit mean to the guy but I'm just trying to use different sentences. I'm pretty sure I was only able to use compound sentences and simple sentences.

Complex Sentences!

 Task description.
For this task I had to create a complex sentence about the photo underneath. Complex sentences need a lot of punctuation, mostly commas though. A sentence becomes a complex sentence if it has two clauses the independent clause and the dependent clause. A independent is a complete sentence on it's own but a dependent clause depends on other clauses to show a complete idea.

Compound sentences!

Task description.
In this photo I had to create a compound sentence about that man skiing down the snow. Compound sentences are sentences that have something called conjunctions. The conjunctions are words that starts with the letters FANBOYS. My new conjunctions are the most common conjunctions for and but.

Simple sentence!

Task description.
Today I woke up a little late so I didn't get to go to the google meet, but that's okay! This task is about different types of sentences. On this photo I had to create something called a simple sentence. A simple sentence is just the most basic type of sentence in the world with no adjectives to make the writing "sharp"

Measurements! Converting different units!

Task description.
Today I finished my maths task about measurements. I posted it on my blog late because I was to lazy to finish it. But somehow still managed to. On the 3rd slide I had to switch the units because all of them were wrong. For example, I ran 150 kg, and my dog weighs 1 m. If you don't realise it, but it's false because how can your dog weigh 1 m and how can you run 150 kg? So we have to switch it so it makes sense because now it says you run 150 m and your dog weighs 1 kg.
Then on slide 7 we had to convert the large units into smaller units. E.g 1 km = 1000 m.
On slide 8 we had to convert the large units into ml/mm/mg. It's basically the same as slide 7. On the last slide we had to go shopping at countdown and get special offers. I decided to get some stuff I would use for dinner and get bread because I ran out. We had to find out the grams of each object we find, and we had to figure out how to convert them into smaller units. After we find our items, we then have to do some maths to figure out the price.

Current Events

Task description.
Today I slept in a little so I wasn't able to go to any of the meetings. But luckily I still managed to do the work by myself. In this task we had to read 2-3 different articles. The two articles that really caught my eye was Ninja Museum getting robbed and Joe Biden in the election. On slide 3 we had to just prove we read (Past tense read) the 2 articles. And on slide 4 we had to choose to either make a screencastify, make a newspaper or make a google drawing. I decided to make a newspaper because it sounded fun On the newspaper task I decided to write about the Ninja Museum getting robbed but I accidentally made a mistake on the newspaper. I got the money switched up!

And that's my task!

A Story Of Creation?!

Task description.
Today I did a task based of a myth. This myth was from Canada and the Ojibwe people. This myth was about how North America was created, that's why they take care of it carefully. This myth had a sacrifice and maybe some teamwork! On the second slide we had to put a location mark on North America. I found out that North America was above South America!
Then on slide 4, I created a story board. We had to place the images and texts in the right order!
On slide 5 I decided to go crazy and do both of A and B. On task B, we had to create a voice over for the images in order. For example we had to create a voice over like the one on slide 3!
On the last slide we had to put in 6 random facts about the Ojibwe people.

The Lizard Man and Uluru

Task description.
Today I finished of this presentation from Monday. I found out about a myth from the Lungkata people of Australia. This myth was about a blue tongue lizard that very greedy and dishonest. And then he died from being greedy and dishonest because that was his punishment.
In this task we had to create notes about the story. And then on the last slide we had to create a screencastify of us retelling the story.

The Manananggal

Today I'm gonna be writing about a Filipino myth since our theme/topic for team 5 are myths and legends all around the world!

This myth is called the Manananggal, it's this creature that resembles a bat. It is also considered a vampire. Manananggal is a mythical creature that loves eating people. Actually, should I consider the people he/she eat are people? They are actually people that haven't seen the world before. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, there babies that are still in stomach! I know right, like why would they eat them?
Let me describe them, they have a VERY long tongue which makes them able to eat the baby from the roof. And when it's the day time, there just a normal and pretty girl but when it hits midnight.... they start turning into the horrific creature!

Just in case if it's true and you experienced it. If you wanna kill it find something that's savoury because they're very allergic to that. Oh right, I forgot to tell you when they turn into the "creature" they leave there lower half. So you have to try and find that lower half and put anything savoury on it and they will shred apart.

This is my writing about the Manananggal, I don't know if it's true so that's why its called a myth.

(No task description, just some writing I wanted to do!)

Well-Built Sentences!

Task description.
Today I did a task about well-built sentences. We had to create some "fine" sentences for our blog viewers. On the third slide we had to create 6 sentences with major detail and make then outstandingly awesome! On the last slide I have to sort of make then better by adding adjectives, fixing the grammar and more!

Measurement

Task description.
Today I decided to try and do the work by myself, meaning I didn't go to the google meets! And I definitely regret it. This task was about guessing measurements and reading scales, as you can see in the WALT. On the first few slides we had to estimate the different units. Like the weigh, the height and the width. On the last side, we had to go on this site which helps us read scales properly.
I had a lot of trouble with this slide because I didn't understand it at all. Until I used my brain properly and figured out what to do!

Breaking Flower and Something Alive Venn Diagram

Task description.
Today I was told to create something called a Venn Diagram with two articles. The two articles were called Brave Flower and Something Alive. We had to put the things that are similar to the other article. E.g Both of the articles have food in it so I have to put the word "food" in the middle.
Then we have to put the things that are not similar  under the article your talking about.
E.g #2  This book is talking about Ancient History, and the other book isn't so I have to put it in the circle under the book's name.
Hope you understand :)

Different Units!

Task description.
Today, on the google meets me and my class were told to do this task. This task was about learning different types of units. On our second slide we had to fill in the empty tables of each unit.
On our third slide we have to choose different units for different things. For example, a bucket of water. We could use litres for that.
On the last slide, we had to do the same thing but instead with times. Like baking a take could take hours. So you could put "hours" in the yellow box.

The Yr 7 Step - Up Programme

1. If you were to give ideas for the next year 7 step-up programme what would you suggest?

I would not be silly so you would have a better experience without being disciplined

2. What would you keep?
I would definitely keep the shared lunches.
I would also keep Mrs. Moala’s challenge is like guessing riddles.
I would also keep the sports like netball.
I would keep the movie time.

3. What would you stop?
I would stop making the groups uneven but instead make them even.
I would change the art tasks we did with Mrs. Tipene.

4. What would you add?
I would add more fun activities that kids would like. For example, kids will LOVE cooking!
I would add more better art tasks.

5. Why do we have such events?
We have this event so it could be fair to the Year 7’s while the Year 8’s are at camp.

And because we have it so we can learn how to be leaders.

Task description.
I had to answer these 5 questions from the Yr 7 step up programme. For example I would stop bullrush and do basketball instead.
Read my suggestions for each question!

Highlights for the Yr 7 Step Up Programme

One of my highlights on the Yr 7 Step up Programme was being the substitute prefects, being the substitute prefects was pretty hard but at the same time it was so much fun! Every practice for the korero was so fun, but yet pretty challenging. We had to pretend there was a granny at the back that couldn’t hear. So technically we had to shout, I expected to get microphones but sadly we only got microphones for the introduction, ending and the school bell. I will admit, when we did the korero with nearly the whole school watching us. We did make a couple mistakes in it. We were rushing to get backstage that our brains got mixed up. But at least the little kids laughed at our mistakes so it’s fine! And that's my highlight from the 3 days.

Task description.
We were told to write about one of our highlights. I wrote about being one of the substitute prefects. We had to write about our whole experience for that highlight.

Reflections - Yr 7 and Yr 8 Captains

Year 7’s
  • I learnt from Nina, the team leader for the thunder group. That her favourite highlight was the food.
  • Bradley’s highlight was being a substitute prefect for the week.
  • Mohammed’s highlight was being a leader for his team and being able to step up.
  • I also heard from Oalii that she saw that people in her group weren’t playing with each other but we were still working together.
  • Sauma saw that some people were stepping up and they acted like proper leaders.

Year 8’s

  • Jezakaia’s highlight was sleeping with his boys because they were scared.
  • Zamera’s highlight was being able to learn how to drive a go-kart.
  • Mamarae’s highlight was seeing her team supporting one person to participate in the activities they were doing.
  • His highlight was when his boys went to his dorm and started singing some waiata.
  • Arthur’s highlight was going into the gym and slapping people with the noodle things
_________________________________________________________________________________

Task description.
Today we went to the street to listen to the year 7 and year 8 captains. After we listened to them saying there highlights and stuff we had to go back in class and write about 10 things we heard.

Measuring Up

Task description.
Today I did a measuring task. In this task we had to measure 5 things with a measuring tape. Then we had to write our strategy for that task. We used a ruler to figure out which line is longer. We found out that both of the lines were 27.5 centimeters.

Locations!

Task description.
Me, Alrida and Nina worked on this task. We had to put location marks and the name of the locations on the map. We had to find the countries of the myths we learnt and then on the side we put the names of the myth.
